clueless women

Donna Shalala, who served for eight years as Secretary of Health and Human Services under President Bill Clinton has been President of the University of Miami since 2001.

First, Shalala’s history with powerful men.

Soon after the sex allegations about Clinton’s involvement with White House intern Monica Lewinsky broke, Clinton had a meeting with his cabinet. Afterwards they met the press on the White House lawn.

Clinton did meet this morning with his Cabinet and afterward, his appointees voiced their support. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright said, “I believe the allegations are completely untrue.” Commerce Secretary William Daley added “I’ll second that. Definitely.” “Third it,” said Health and Human Services Secretary Donna Shalala.
Albright and the other Cabinet members said the president told them “to remain focused on our jobs.”

Shalala’s tenure as President of the University of Miami.

At Miami, Shalala claimed to always be on alert for violations against NCAA rules.

Again, others might not laugh. At Miami, president Donna Shalala personally hires each coach. She studies the NCAA rulebook and weekly compliance reports. During football games, she scours the sidelines for suspicious guests. “I’m on alert all the time,” she says.

Obviously not too alert. The photo below belies Shalala’s claims. She is gazing down at a $50,000 check from Hurricanes booster Nevin Shapiro who is now in jail and has been singing like a bird.

In 100 hours of jailhouse interviews during Yahoo! Sports’ 11-month investigation, Hurricanes booster Nevin Shapiro described a sustained, eight-year run of rampant NCAA rule-breaking, some of it with the knowledge or direct participation of at least seven coaches from the Miami football and basketball programs. At a cost that Shapiro estimates in the millions of dollars, he said his benefits to athletes included but were not limited to cash, prostitutes, entertainment in his multimillion-dollar homes and yacht, paid trips to high-end restaurants and nightclubs, jewelry, bounties for on-field play (including bounties for injuring opposing players), travel and, on one occasion, an abortion.

As school president, she is involved in the Nevin Shapiro sports recruiting scandal which broke in August 2011. Shapiro, who is convicted of a $930 million Ponzi scheme, allegedly provided cash, goods, prostitutes, and assorted favors to University of Miami football players and even purchased a yacht on which sex parties were held, again including prostitutes. 72 players have been implicated. Included in the case is a photograph of Shalala with Shapiro and Miami basketball coach Frank Haith receiving a $50,000 check from Shapiro in 2008. In an interview with time magazine earlier in August 2011, Shalala is quoted by Time as saying that such depravity “would not have lasted two minutes under me,” and that under her leadership there would be “no tolerance for breaking the rules.” [6] There is currently speculation that the scandal may prompt the NCAA to impose the death penalty on Miami’s famed football program.[7][8]

Guess Shalala’s been “thirding it” all along. She can’t tell those powerful football coaches how to run their teams.

Oh my, according to Wikipedia, Shalala was a friend of Angelo.

In June 2008, Conde Nast Portfolio reported that Shalala allegedly got multiple below-rate loans at Countrywide Financial because the corporation considered her a “FOA’s”–”Friends of Angelo” (Countrywide Chief Executive Angelo Mozilo).

Forbes is calling for Shalala to fall on her sword. It’s really doubtful that she has a sword, being a feminist. I love college football but it’s getting harder to watch, knowing there is so much cheating going on. Allowing and encouraging it via “boosters” and others is sickening. Shalala, in her quest for a big seat at the top either didn’t have a sense of discernment when dealing with Shapiro or any of the coaches or players when she claimed to be so alert. Since she failed at that she should resign.

Our lovely and oh, so cultured First Lady, Michelle Obama held a poetry event at the White House tonight. She invited the Rapper, “Common” to the event. N.J. Cops are outraged.

As well they should have been. The Rapper, Common grew up in the same church Michelle and Barack attended back in Chicago and those Jeremiah Wright chickens were roosting in the White House tonight.

Ten Detroit area students were invited to the event as well as the actor/poet, Steve Martin, and other contemporary poets.

No Cowboy Poets were in attendance. Neither were the poets Robert Frost, Carl Sandburg and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

Not even in spirit.

Although the White House claimed that Common was sidelined from the afternoon events, according to Facebook responses of those who watched the White House stream tonight, he was there and performed at the event.

President Obama welcomed the crowd to the White House with arguably the most poetic words he has ever uttered, “Hello, everybody. Please have a seat. Welcome to the White House. I am going to be brief, because on a night like tonight, my job is to get out of the way and let the professionals do their job.”

Mohamed Osman Mohamud, failed Portland, Oregon Christmas bomber, Wanda Sykes, failed hater of Rush Limbaugh’s kidney.

It begins. Here comes the explanation/apologia of the rage of Mohamed Osman Mohamud by Washington Post faith writer, Eboo Patel.

Cell phone photo of my spooky line drawing done on the white board in my art class.

It’s Halloween and in our city the children are observing the actual date on the calendar. It will be a spooky (and fun) evening here in flyover land.

Chills will be running down the spines. Hands will be shaking and twisting in fear. As the night goes up to day what kind of destruction will be left in the wake of the tricksters and treaters?

Oh, I’m not talking about tonight but Tuesday night. November 2nd is Election day in America. Will the witches of the left coast be shrieking in rage at the results or will that spooky “once upon a time witch for a day” be victorious?

We will see.

I watched the televised coverage of our nations’ descent into socialism this weekend, when I could stand it. I have never suffered under the delusion that Democrats can be trusted so when I saw the non-stop coverage about whether Congressman Stupak would say yea or nay I changed the channel. I knew he would pull a Lucy in the end.

And he did.

The Congress passed socialized health care 219 to 212.

The fiscal integrity of our nation, both private and public has been under attack since January 20th, 2009.

We are now going “down to the ant heap of totalitarianism.” Ronald Reagan

The thing is, a majority of the American people are against Obamacare. This has to be the most intrusive, invasive legislation in a hundred years. The biggest power grab; a mandate requiring Americans to buy health care insurance whether they want it or not and if they don’t the IRS will be sicced on them.

Will we turn over and go back to sleep? Will we allow Barack Obama and his pack of hellions to take our country down to the ant heap?

Hell No!

We won’t!

Desperate Blanche Lincoln sought to distance herself from President Obama Wednesday in an “audience” (discussion) with Obama and Senate Democrats.

Lincoln, who faces a tough reelection fight, asked Obama to push back against “people at the extremes” of both parties, especially against Democrats “who want extremes.”

She also took a swipe at Obama’s White House, referencing a constituent who “fears that there’s no one in your administration that understands what it means to go to work on Monday and make a payroll on Friday.“

Blanche wants Obama to push back against extreme Democrats?

Dear me.

I’m wondering who in the White House gave Lincoln permission to go after Obama with her stinging payroll comments. A cynical minded person who has watched Lincoln’s not so centrist voting record has to consider the back story. It’s doubtful that her remarks were unscripted.

It’s ironic, actually, because Mrs. Lincoln has never had a job outside government her whole adult life.

Blanche Lincoln has also never had to make a payroll.

After graduating from college, Lincoln served as a staff assistant for U.S. Representative Bill Alexander, a Democrat from Arkansas’s 1st congressional district.[11] She remained in Alexander’s office until 1984.[8] In 1992, Lincoln defeated Alexander (who had become a major figure in the House banking scandal) in the Democratic primary, by a margin of 61 to 39 percent. She subsequently won the general election, beating Republican Terry Hayes with 70% of the vote. Her election to the House coincided with the election of fellow Arkansan, Bill Clinton, as President of the United States.

She was reelected to a second term under her married name, Blanche Lincoln, and served in the House of Representatives until 1997. Lincoln chose not stand for reelection in 1996; she was pregnant at that time.

In 1998, Lincoln returned to politics and ran for the Senate seat being vacated by incumbent Senator Dale Bumpers. She defeated her Republican opponent, Fay Boozman, the brother of future congressman John Boozman, by a margin of 55%-42%.

If Lincoln’s remarks were an attempt to win back the “boobus Arkansasus” she has very little hope.

But there will be change.

Look at Sarah Palin, an American Patriot, and Proud of it.

Seven weeks Peggy Noonan’s given Sarah Palin. Seven weeks to express her deepest philosophical yearnings on the campaign stump in order to personally inform HRH Peggy Noonan where Palin comes from. Are her roots Reaganite or Bushian? McCainian or Palinian? Will Palin start a new movement altogether, a Joe Sixpackian Party?, Noonan would sniff. (Or maybe a Joe the Plumber movement?) I can just see this newly declared Democratic elitist growing pale.

In the fullness of time history now appreciates the hard decisions that the late President Harry Truman faced so Ms. Noonan writes appreciatively of his achievements. She doesn’t mention that when Truman left office his approval ratings were extremely low because of his policies.

Noonan switches to her poison pen to write about Sarah Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate who has single handedly revived concepts of reality, reform, love of country and duty to the people of the United States. (and really given a boost to the Republican base) Along with President George W. Bush the concept of patriotism becomes again a stirring of the heart and soul, instead of a simple political phrase.

Like President Truman, President Bush has experienced a drop in popularity, but no one can question his patriotism or his success in the defense of his country and the American people. Virtually from the beginning of President Bush’s administration, Noonan was there, writing missives to him in her articles, almost as if she were a stage mother. At first she seemed proud of his performance in the campaign, in the debates, and after the 911 attacks.

As the years wore on Noonan’s articles became more critical of the president, criticizing the pitch of his voice, the missteps in his administrations’ policies; the state of the union addresses that others found stellar. Noonan nit-picked but that was okay. She was involved in the Revolution as she wrote.

But something happened to Noonan. Somewhere around 2005 her writing turned moodier, darker, and she seemed to want more nuance from President Bush, less patriotism, less, shall we say, God.

When did she cross over into such cynicism?

Noonan’s anger is evident throughout this disjointed and emotional article which meanders around in many directions, lightly criticizing Obama, then mugging John McCain, but using the body of the text to attack Sarah Palin for spending the past seven weeks essentially campaigning for John McCain and withstanding an onslaught of attacks that would make any person break down and cry.

One suspects the real target of this article was President Bush and the conservative writers who have stuck with him these past eight years. That seems to really irritate Noonan. She never could lead any of these patriots off the ranch into her land of bitterness and that must frustrate her greatly. The last line in her article betrays her bitterness and deep anger.

But we have seen Mrs. Palin on the national stage for seven weeks now, and there is little sign that she has the tools, the equipment, the knowledge or the philosophical grounding one hopes for, and expects, in a holder of high office. She is a person of great ambition, but the question remains: What is the purpose of the ambition? She wants to rise, but what for? For seven weeks I’ve listened to her, trying to understand if she is Bushian or Reaganite—a spender, to speak briefly, whose political decisions seem untethered to a political philosophy, and whose foreign policy is shaped by a certain emotionalism, or a conservative whose principles are rooted in philosophy, and whose foreign policy leans more toward what might be called romantic realism, and that is speak truth, know America, be America, move diplomatically, respect public opinion, and move within an awareness and appreciation of reality.

But it’s unclear whether she is Bushian or Reaganite. She doesn’t think aloud. She just . . . says things.

Noonan’s bitter and acerbic attitude reveals a contempt which will not allow me to any longer give her articles the benefit of any link.

You have gone many lines too far Ms. Noonan. You have arguably lost the reason that it takes to think through the difficulties of the moment and you have taken the emotional way out. Instead of simply keeping your counsel about things which may have puzzled or hurt you in the past seven weeks (I’m certain Sarah Palin has had many of these thoughts) you made the unfortunate choice, to think out loud.

Thankfully, Sarah Palin is a patriot. She is a happy warrior.

Yes, to red-blooded Americans, Sarah Palin is the Statue of Liberty, holding up the torch, reminding us who we are, an exceptional people whose great deeds were done in this world because we are free and it is not time to let go of that freedom.

And we will not let go of that freedom.

I have confidence in Senator McCain’s debate performance tonight so I won’t try to tie him down with unasked for advice. I see enough of that all over the blogosphere. Most are wish lists of questions which will never be asked by Bob Schieffer or others blasting John McCain’s crankiness, or of not being cranky enough or woeful predictions about what they think will happen in the debate tonight, which, after all, is their right as they see it.

Some say McCain should punch Obama three times with the left, once with the right.

These are great times in many ways… despite the economy, these are the days before we elect the 44th president of the United States. A new era will ensue next January, 2009, whoever the American people and Acorn elect.

In these days before November 4th we may be looking out over the abyss. On January 20th, 2009 we may be looking back on these days with longing as the last days of President Bush. The last days of freedom. The last days we had the rights of free citizens. Right now we have the right to express our opinions whatever they may be.

These are the days that in many ways remind me of the September 10th, 2001 era, a happy, aimless, time when the only controversies were the counting of the ballots down in Palm Beach County by the New York Times, resulting in President Bush still winning the 2000 election and Al Gore making a few brave appearances here and there.

That so many Americans can still remain unaware or worse, not care that the Democrat Party has offered up the most radical and dangerous candidate since George McGovern one who wants to redistribute Americans wealth through taxation as he said to the face of a plumber recently,

It’s not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they’ve got a chance for success too,” Obama responded. “My attitude is that if the economy’s good for folks from the bottom up, it’s gonna be good for everybody … I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

That Obama has never wanted an American victory in Iraq has been apparent for quite a while, in fact, he has meddled in U.S.-Iraq relations for months. This undermines our relations with not only Iraq but with other middle eastern nations. But don’t take my word for it, read what Mohammed Fadhil has written.

Teachers of the country who hate “No Child Left Behind”? Changes are a-coming. It’s not so much educational excellence or stress on better pay. No. Nothing like that.

The abyss awaits. We make a choice. Do we choose the white haired man or the man of hope and change?

The man of illusion is the man of hope and change. I choose not to make that choice. I will go for the old guy with the solid American ideas and the Vice Presidential choice who has a future, Sarah Palin. No matter how the debate goes tonight.

Last, instead of sitting around whining about what McCain-Palin should be doing, Lorie Byrd has some advice about what Republicans can be doing.

Nancy Pelosi has presided over the most despicable Congress in the past fifty years. Under this woman and her cronies our stock market lost seven percent of its value today and will probably lose more value tomorrow. Yet Congress will not meet again until this Thursday.

With Nancy Pelosi at the Congressional helm our nation has been weakened both economically and strategically. Here, she finally had a deal today and instead of pulling both sides of Congress to her side to show strength to the world at large and Wall Street in particular, she chose to play dirty politics, and attack the Republicans in Congress who were, by the way, elected by the people just as she was. She just couldn’t help it I suppose, the Bush Derangement Syndrome is so deeply embedded in her very marrow that she was compelled to veer from the script.

When President Bush took office, he inherited President Clinton’s surpluses — four years in a row, budget surpluses, on a trajectory of $5.6 trillion in surplus. And with his reckless economic policies within two years, he had turned that around … and now eight years later the foundation of that fiscal irresponsibility, combined with an anything-goes economic policy, has taken us to where we are today. They claim to be free-market advocates when it’s really an anything-goes mentality, no regulation, no supervision, no discipline. …”

“… Democrats believe in a free market … but in this case, in its unbridled form as encouraged, supported by the Republicans — some in the Republican Party, not all — it has created not jobs, not capital, it has created chaos.”

I find it hard to believe that Pelosi and company really intend to pass the bailout bill. If they can stretch this crisis until November so much the better for the Democrats must be their calculation.

Socks, once the official White House cat during the Clinton administration, now purportedly lives a life of anonymity with Betty Currie, Bill Clinton’s enabler-secretary. Hillary had no more use for the feline when the vacation from history during the nineties was over, so Socks was sent packing. Buddy the dog, useful during the Impeachment days for friendly photo-ops, met an even worse fate.

How Socks must approve of Barack Obama, another cool cat, who seems to be on the cusp of defeating Hillary the Stiff. How ironic that Hillary and Socks share a display case in the Clinton Library.

Socks the cat deserved so much more, as most cat lovers understand. Perhaps he is a happier cat living with a woman who dished out her unrequited loyalty to a president more interested in winning at any cost than in ever admitting the truth.

Some Republicans in Texas are crossing over this Tuesday to vote for Hillary in order to defeat Barack Obama in their (valid) belief that Obama will be a much harder opponent for John McCain.

I say, let nature take its course. Nature can be cleansing in its severity. Even Democrats in their overweening desire to regain the White House are opting out on Hillary.

I truly hope Socks is still alive and able to snooze near a television tuned to the news this Tuesday.
