I’ve noticed something about conservative female bloggers in the few years I have been blogging…..we very seldom shrink from confronting the savagery of terrorism. I don’t check out the blogs of liberal women very often except for the unfortunate eruption of Deborah Frisch madness this past weekend and that is a horse of another color entirely.
Frisch has her own savage outlook on life but her hatred is not aimed at the blood hungry jihadists who kill innocent people. She hates the likes of people who love freedom and support the war on terror.
Throughout history we’ve learned of women who had the courage to face the madness and savagery of their age and they made the world a safer and more civilized place in which to live. I’m not so sure that American women today are willing to face the ugly facts of this world…that we have enemies who want to kill us. These jihadists seek to subjugate women like the poor women in this video.
Liberated women don’t seem as interested in keeping our hard won freedom. However, more conservative women do seem to have that female fortitude that understands the necessity of using force to win the war against terror.
Perhaps it’s because many more of us are mothers….not all of course but that maternal instinct does bring out the tiger in us. We are not willing to allow our children or our grandchildren or any of the children in our country to live in terror and slavery. We are compelled to do something about it.
In America’s earliest history there were women such as this. One I learned about when studying family history……Hannah Dustin… She is a collateral ancestor…….
Hannah Emerson Dustin has a monument erected in the center of Haverhill, MA commemorating the extensive ordeal she endured when she was captured by Indians on March 15, 1697. They killed her 1 week old daughter Martha, and forced her to walk for days until they arrived at an island in the middle of the Merrimack river about 6 miles north of Concord, NH. There she met Samuel Lennardson, a young english boy who had been there about one year. They became friends and plotted to find a way of escape. They were soon informed that they were to start traveling again to a distant indian settlement, so they determined to escape before the journey. On the 31st, they got up around midnight and killed the ten Indians and escaped down the river to Hudson, NH with their scalps to prove their story and collect a bounty.
American women today, thankfully, don’t experience the terror Hannah Emerson Dustin endured but her example is still inspirational.
Just a few female bloggers who are Standing and fighting are…..
There are so many more interesting and valiant female bloggers but my eyes are closing for the night. I will be featuring more throughout the next few weeks.

Wow! I'm honored to be included in such august company! You might want to add La Shawn Barber and Kitty at Kitty Litter. They are, along with you, my inspiration!

Yes, there are so many tough ladies blogging but I had to actually go to sleep at some point last night! I will be adding some links today after I do some reading.

We don't see eye to eye on much, but I sure do have respect for coherent, articulate women bloggers (note: I do not include Michele Malkin in this category).
Interestingly, the most honorable and most dishonorable bloggers in Ramseygate were women.
The most dishonorable: Blackfive, for posting my boss' email address and inciting the rightwingnuts.
Most honorable: Villainous Company, for staying out of the fray, even though I'd engaged at comparable behavior there.
Peace.

Laura Lee,
I am humbled by that extraordinary post. I agree with your characterization of conservative women; we are more likely to stand and face a real enemy rather than create a phony one and attempt to scorn it to death.
And there's no one I'm more proud of sharing the trenches with than you...

Conservative Women Identify the Enemy...
At least that’s what Laura Lee at Wide Awake Cafe has to say in a history lesson for women bloggers. It’s a great post! Check it out.

I came across your post and want to take a moment to thank you and to join in your appreciation for all those who are willing to take a stand against terror.
Of course, speaking out against terror is only one kind of courage. Nobody can be sure how they would act in an immediate life-threatening situation until it arrives, but I hope that I would act honorably. I am humbled by the courage I see all around me in others, men and women alike, including the troops, and sometimes even in children.
My own determination to speak out against terrorism comes from a few sources, I think. I certainly learned from my own parents and their parents. My grandmother and father spoke out against the oppression of both Soviet communism and Nazism, after fleeing their homeland to America in World War II. My mother has her own kind of courage.
My grandmother's relatives still lived under communism while I was growing up. I was told that some letters to them were censored, apparently to avoid letting them know even the fact that Americans could afford luxuries like washing machines.
Yet when I was young it seemed as if my grandmother's complaints against Soviet communism were futile. The Soviet Union was one of the world's great superpowers.
We now know how that ended. The collapse of the Berlin wall and later, of the Soviet Union, were powerful reminders to me and to the world of the strength of the human yearning for freedom.
The fall of the Soviet Union also conveyed another lesson to me -- that even superpowers are not invulnerable. Even America can be destroyed if the forces arrayed against it are sufficiently persistent and determined. A nation can be destroyed in one awful moment or drip by drip by drip, as rainwater wears down a stone. Therefore, we must be ready to fight to survive as a nation and to remain free.
I have always felt deeply that when something is wrong, it is better to fight it -- even if it means spending yourself in the process -- than to succumb to it. Alternatively, one must be wiling to flee and escape the oppressive situation. There is honor in either approach; nothing requires us to live under oppression when we can be free, although it is better if we can defeat the evil directly. Either way, evil cannot be allowed to prevail. Human beings are meant to live in freedom and dignity.
As an American, the theme of human liberty is as basic to me as breathing. As a Christian, I want the whole world to enjoy the blessings of human freedom. As a lawyer, I know that there are definite limits to what can be achieved through diplomacy. I certainly don't win lawsuits by persauding my adversary to surrender voluntarily! Sometimes people absolutely refuse to be persuaded, no matter how unreasonable and self-destructive their course of action. They are too blinded by hate or immediate self-interest. In such a situation, you must fight and win, or you will surely lose.
Over the long term, the only way to keep a country safe from external dangers is to be well-armed and willing to fight, while at the same time choosing to live in peace with all nations that also live in peace.
Terrorism is rapidly becoming a worldwide scourge in this age. No nation is immune. Not every nation has suffered a horrific attack yet, but most eventually will. There is no sanctuary -- not in any country, not in any religion. Countless Muslims have already died a the hands of terrorists; they are not usually the primary target but they are conveniently located near the Islamic terrorist and thus are often easy prey. Every nation will eventually learn the hard way that this battle against terror must be fought and won. There is no other way to find lasting peace.
I will stop for now because I think I've just written the equivalent of a fairly long blog post in your comments section -- sorry about that. Perhaps I will republish this at my site.
Thank you for thinking about all of us. We need to stick together and reinforce one another, because this war is not over and we will need every ounce of strength, focus and determination we can muster.

Laura Lee,
Thanks for including Hang Right Politics in your list.
I was reading the story of your collateral ancestor and since she was in my native part of the woods and I'm a Penobscot Indian (one-half) I certainly hope my tribe wasn't involved in her mistreatment and in her scalpings.
If so I extend my deepest apologies and promise not to ever try to get revenge for the scalpings.
