Ada M. Davis is #1077 on the list of 2996 victims of September 11th, 2001 who are being remembered this September 11th, 2006.
Ada M. Davis was an Army civilian accountant so she dealt with numbers for much of her life. She was the oldest of ten children, the wife of one man, the mother of four and grandmother of one.
As an accountant, Mrs. Davis was one of the unspoken heroes of our Department of Defense. Our country has a requirement to ensure accountability from those who are armed to protect it and Mrs. Davis helped to make that happen. Although the job of an accountant may seem mundane, it is the epitome of our freedom; for in this duty lies the understanding of the tenents of our country.
These civil servants provide the wherewithal to ensure civilian control and a day by day accounting to the people. The work done is tedious and exacting and those who perform it contribute more to our freedom and security than anyone can ever understand. Although rarely in the line of fire, these unsung heroes sacrifice time and effort daily, with a courage that is neither acknowledged nor appreciated.
On September 11th, 2001, Mrs. Davis became one of the few of this fellowship to pay the ultimate price.
She was one of the 2996.
She’s been gone for five years. When Ada Davis was killed in the Pentagon on September 11th, 2001, she was only fifty-seven years old. Her family was robbed of a wife, a mother and a grandmother. Our country lost a faithful civil servant. Every tribute site I’ve discovered in my search to learn more about Mrs. Davis have messages from friends and family describing what a loving and warm person she was.
Her face seems familiar to me. Mrs. Davis worked as an Army civilian accountant for years in the Pentagon and I wonder whether we might have crossed paths.
Mrs. Davis and her husband, Norton, lived in Camp Springs, Maryland.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Davis left three daughters, a son, one grandchild and many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
On September 11, 2006, 2,996 volunteer bloggers
will join together for a tribute to the victims of 9/11.
Each person will pay tribute to a single victim.
We will honor them by remembering their lives,
and not by remembering their murderers.

It makes me want to cry to read about the lives of this people who were so brutally murdered. It invokes the wrath I felt at the time. I pray that their families and friends will be comforted as the face yet another anniversary of their death. And I also pray for justice.

That's a nice tribute for someone who clearly deserves it. But, please, change the date on this post so it stays at the top until 9-11 is over! Surely she deserves that much? (I'm a participant in the 2,996 Project, and I understood we were all supposed to do this.) Feel free to delete my comment; I'm not trying to chew you out, just remind you.

Thank you for your comment Wandering Author. I just figured out how to change the date in order to keep the post on the top of the page. I won't delete your comment. I appreciate it.
