So I was at the dentist yesterday sitting in the chair, all numbed up with one of those suction things in my mouth and the dentist came in and asked me how things were going. Our dentist is a friend of our family and a great American.

But when I told him about the deployments of my son and brother he asked me a question that made my heart hurt because it is the type of question that exemplifies why most Americans think things are hopeless in Iraq.

He said, “Are they disappointed to be going over there with things in such bad shape?”

Try to answer that question while numb. But I made an attempt.

Thankfully, many military families are talking back to those who would control the American outlook on the war on terror.

Meanwhile, there are stories which are never reported in the news about the gallantry of our troops and I believe that has a lot to do with many Americans’ dire outlook on Iraq.

The stories are so inspiring and should give Americans pride in their own.

Vice President Dick Cheney said, “terrorists lose if Americans keep their resolve.” I believe if Americans knew about the great things being accomplished by our troops there wouldn’t be as much doubt and uncertainty.
