kimjongileffigy

Monday, Oct. 9, 2006: An effigy of Kim Jong Il bound to a missile is burned by South Korean protesters during an anti-North Korea rally.

The North Korean first ever Nuclear test gave me troubled sleep last night, as I’m sure it did many Americans. For some reason, I don’t feel threatened by former Congressman Foley but I do by the Little Man, Kim Jong-il.

Although I suspect the Democrats will be clinging to their meme that President Bush, Denny Hastert and Mark Foley are the true Axis of Evil, most Americans voting this November remember fallout shelters, and the Era of MAD and understand the implications of emerging nuclear neighborhoods in Asia.

Scott Johnson of Powerline asks, Do Democrats care as much about protecting the United States from nuclear missiles as they do about protecting House pages from Mark Foley’s digital missives? I hope so, but I don’t think they really care about either very much. Mark Foley’s gone now, but North Korea and Iran remain to threaten the end of the world as we know it.

UPDATE: Cameron Stewart has a fascinating piece in the Australian about the madness of Kim John-il.

UPDATE ll:According to Captain Ed, the North Korean nuclear test didn’t produce much of a big bang. Lorie Byrd at Wizbang has word that Keith Olbermann doesn’t either.
