Of course we are not seeing the actual cost of this action yet, but it does not matter. We are insuring that Americans will not die in some foreign land!

But what is the reason we were there in the first place! Oh yeah, that stupid and false idea that Iraq had poison gas, was working on biological weapons, and was looking to get nuclear weapons. Also, someone said that the government of Iraq was connected to terrorist activity. Well, after all of the secret briefings and information was given to congress our Democrat representatives and Senators, Ms Pelosi and Mr. Murtha chief among them, categorically stated that we had no reason to be in Iraq! I am proud of this demonstration of congressional oversight that will keep our executive branch from aggression against our neighbors.

Wait a minute! Didn’t the whole congress vote to go in the first place? But that must have been only the Republicans in congress. Let’s see, hmmmm, well I am surprised! A large majority of both parties voted to go into Iraq!

Now I am really confused. If the information was so clear that there was no threat in Iraq, then why did the majority of our representatives vote to go in the first place?

My gosh, can you believe this? I just found that there was a terrorist training camp in Iraq before we invaded! I did not know that. I guess I was getting a haircut when that came out on the third page of the newspaper.

I also found that Saddam H was giving money to some terrorist group attacking Israel. But evidently that is not the same one that is attacking us …..is it?

But that still does not mean that terrorists could have obtained poison gas or bio weapons or even nuclear stuff from ol Saddam, does it?

Oh my God! We found poison gas about a year ago buried in Iraq! Must have been watching Monday night football when that came out as an aside in the nightly news.

Well, the New York Times put on their front page that Iraq had a nuclear weapons program. How come we are giving them nuclear power, that is crazy!!!??? Oh, they are talking about before we invaded. But that is what we said in the first place and then Ms Pelosi said that wasn’t true, right? Must be a mistake.

But anyway, that is still no reason to keep our soldiers over in Iraq for over three years fighting some type of revolution for those rich A-Rabs. Besides, we won our revolution ourselves without any help from anybody!

What? Oh, excuse me but my nephew, who goes to that uppity private Catholic School, just told me that without France we would have never gained our independence from England. Is that true? Well what difference does that make! It sure did not take us three long years!

What!!! Oh come on now, what do you mean that we fought from 1775 to 1782? Yes that is more than three years, but that does not matter. France did not have to help us and if we had been them, we surely would have kept out of another foreign country’s business.

Besides, we weren’t winning in Iraq!!! We just need to cut our losses and get out.

Excuse me, …..my nephew again. So what if it was a guerilla war, we still should have won it immediately! What do you mean that you can’t win an insurgency quickly. We sure could if we want to!

Wait a minute, so what if there has never been a quick victory against guerillas. Maybe we’ve never really fought any before. Oh, really, our revolution and the war of 1812 and the Civil War and the Spanish American War and World War I and World War II, they all had insurgencies in which we had to fight guerilla’s?

Well, how long did those take? An average of ten years!!! What was the minimum? At least five years where we fought against former Nazi’s (werewolves) while resisting the Iron Curtain of communism. Really, must have been drinking a beer and skipping school that day.

No nephew, I was never in the military. I had better things to do. Our family has a tradition of the best. I graduated from the finest Ivy League Schools! I was even a Rhodes Scholar! No, I did not get a certificate. I was too busy protesting the great American Vietnam war of aggression in Russia. Besides those English schools were a lot harder than I was used to.

Yes, in fact I am a lot smarter than most people you know. I have been a loyal Democrat for most of my life, when I had the time to vote. You know, I probably could run for congress or even the presidency! Yes, of course I would use grandpa’s money, you think I have any of my own? I guess I could marry some money like Kerry did but really don’t have the time. Yeah, so I don’t have a job, don’t need one.
