Bristol Palin, the seventeen year old daughter of Republican Vice Presidential Nominee Sarah Palin is five months pregnant and plans to marry the father of her baby, it was announced today. John McCain knew about Bristol’s pregnancy before he selected Sarah for veep.

After this long weekend of despicable leftist attacks claiming that Bristol was the mother of Sarah and Todd’s baby, Trig, where will the slime artists go now? Certainly not up, they have gone as low as they can go.

ST. PAUL — The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

Bristol Palin, one of Alaska Gov. Palin’s five children with her husband, Todd, is about five months pregnant and is going to keep the child and marry the father, the Palins said in a statement released by the campaign of Republican presidential candidate John McCain.

Bristol Palin made the decision on her own to keep the baby, McCain aides said.

“We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us,” the Palins’ statement said.

“Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support,” the Palins said.

The Palins asked the news media to respect the young couple’s privacy.

“Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media, respect our daughter and Levi’s privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates,” the statement concluded.

The Palin family response is loving and very supportive of their daughter. I can just imagine Barack Obama’s response to the news one of his daughters was pregnant since he has been known to say that he did not want his daughters “punished with a baby.”

Most people don’t consider babies a punishment and it’s quite apparent that Bristol’s parents don’t either.

I remember when I was a teenager (before abortion was legal) my mother talked to me about unplanned pregnancies. We had the kind of open and close relationship in which I could tell her everything. She told me that it was nice girls that fell for guy’s lines and ended up getting pregnant. Her love and kindness kept me confident that I would be loved no matter how many mistakes I made.

It sounds like Bristol’s got that same confidence in her family. She needs to be left alone by the media and the haters on the left.
