When the U.S. Military was Politically Incorrect
Here is the Thanksgiving menu for the battleship, the U.S.S. Minnesota in 1907. My great great Uncle Fred T. Whitmarsh served on it and I found it in my grandmother’s trunk.

Click on the photo to read the menu.
Just checked in for the first time today and see that I have been linked to by the mighty Instapundit.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

This is just a driveby, but the one person on my tin-can that was worth his weight in diamonds was the Chief Commissaryman. Running a close second was the Corpsman.
Happy thanksgiving and Merry Christmas

Thank you so much. Based on the note it was sent home by your great uncle to reassure his loved ones. I think you had a wonderful great uncle. God Bless America's soldiers.

I used to work with a fellow who's grandfather was a sailor aboard the , cant remember if it was the Baltimore or the Annapolis during the late 1920's on a "fly the flag" type west-pac cruise. And the pictures he had were a fascinating snap-shot of not only our own culture but that of the S.E. Asian countries visited at the time, I love that sort of thing, thanks for posting this.
