Not always wide awake but mostly awake.

I am an Army wife and mother (and grandmother of two boys, age 5 and 1 and a little girl on the way) and an elementary art teacher. I am a center right Republican who supports the war on terror.

My husband retired from the Army in 2004 after thirty years of active duty service which is why I still feel like an Army wife and mother. My son served for a year in Iraq and came home safely. He arrived in Iraq just as the surge was beginning and came home just as it was beginning to succeed. Now he is also a civilian and missing his army buddies.

I am also the proud mother of two very intelligent daughters who are lawyers. One is an attorney and the other is now finished with law school and studying for the bar exam.

It is obvious from my about page that I am all about my family. If you check out my categories you will find that I write a lot about my parents, my grandparents and my brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles.

I come from a family that is rich in love if not money. There was always time for a story in my family and always a knee to sit upon and I always managed to find one.

There was always time in my family for art and music, for horses and running, for baseball and football, for poetry and fishing. My mother gathered us together when it was time for bed and we had Bible readings and prayer. She read poetry to us, her favorites were Annabel Lee by Edgar Allan Poe and The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes.

I wrote stories for my children when they were growing up and now I write for my grandchildren.
I am constructing a page for some of my drawings and paintings.
